During his tenure, 72 percent of Polavaram was completed.. But in 2019, YCP came to power and accused that Polavaram was drowned in Godavari in the name of reverse tendering. It has been criticized that the reverse trending has caused an additional burden of Rs 3500 crores. Minister Ramanaidu said that the Polavaram project authority said not to change the agencies.. The then government turned a blind eye and went for river tendering.. As a result, the construction of Polavaram was at risk.
Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said that due to the lack of supervision by the construction agencies, the floods in 2020 submerged Polavaram. Between 2019-24, only two percent of the Polavaram works were done in the YCP government.. If the TDP government gave a lot of attention to the irrigation projects.. the YCP government destroyed the irrigation project.. Today even half of the TMC has gone without water in Pulichintha, which is full of water art. The government has worked.. There are pending bills of 18 thousand crores in the irrigation department.. The contractors will not come forward to do new works unless they are paid, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu revealed.
