Increase in movie ticket rates.. High Court has put the state government in a tight spot
The issue of movie tickets became controversial after Jagan came to power in AP which never existed. The film industry faced a lot of problems due to the increase in the government’s involvement in the situation like whether the film has come or gone. Rather than private platforms, the government has looked to monitor the sale of tickets through a web portal. It has also lifted the permissions for benefit shows and special shows. The industry has faced many ups and downs due to these circumstances in AP, which brings about 60 percent of the revenue to the Telugu film industry. In order to support the industry, Megastar Chiranjeevi also met the then CM YS Jagan.
The Jagan government has responded positively to this and is giving permission to increase the ticket prices depending on the budget of the film. But no permission was given to increase the prices of some movie tickets. Among such is Pawan Kalyan starrer Bhimla Nayak. But in the recent elections, the pro-industry TDP alliance came to power in Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, with Powerstar Pawan Kalyan taking charge as the Deputy CM of AP, it is believed that good days have come for Tollywood.
Pawan has assured the film celebs who met him recently that he will give his life so that the industry can do what it wants. In those few days, the movie Kalki 2898 AD, made by Prabhas-Nag Ashwin combination, was released. As per the request of the director and producers, the film allowed the ticket prices to be increased for two weeks and the fifth play to be screened. Kalki is getting good collections in Andhra Pradesh.
While the situation in AP is getting better, the issue of movie tickets is once again a topic of discussion. A person named Rakesh Reddy from Nellore has approached the High Court against the increase in movie ticket prices. The court, which received this for investigation, said that it will conduct an in-depth investigation as to whether the government has the authority to increase the prices of newly released movie tickets or not. The bench directed the government and the respondents to file a counter with complete details in this regard.
But analysts say that there is no problem for Kalki at present. Still two weeks have passed since the release of this movie.. Ticket prices have been reduced in many places. But the high court’s verdict is likely to have an impact on the big movies that are going to be released in the coming days, movie stars fear. Next films like Pushpa 2, Devara Part 1, Oji, NBK 109, Vishwambhara are getting ready for release. In this context, there is a discussion in Filmnagar about what kind of judgment the court will give.
