Following a salary increase in 2018, MPs now earn a monthly basic salary of ₹1,00,000. This adjustment aimed to keep pace with inflation and the escalating cost of living.

Allowances and Perks:

1. Constituency Allowance: MPs receive ₹70,000 monthly for constituency-related expenses like maintaining offices and interacting with constituents.

2. Office Expenses: A monthly allowance of ₹60,000 is allocated for office-related costs such as stationery and staff salaries.

3. Daily Allowance: During parliamentary sessions and committee meetings, MPs are entitled to a daily allowance of ₹2,000 to cover lodging and food expenses while in the capital.

4. Travel Allowance: MPs enjoy 34 free domestic air journeys annually for themselves and their immediate families. Additionally, they receive complimentary first-class train travel for official and personal use. Road travel within their constituencies is also compensated through mileage allowances.

5. Housing and Accommodation: MPs are granted rent-free accommodations in prominent areas for their five-year term. Depending on seniority, they may receive bungalows, flats, or hostel rooms. Alternatively, those opting out of official housing can claim a housing allowance of ₹2,00,000 per month.

6. Medical Facilities: MPs and their families benefit from free medical care under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), including treatment at designated government and private hospitals.

7. Pension: Former MPs receive a pension of ₹25,000 monthly after serving one term in Parliament, with an additional increment of ₹2,000 per month for each subsequent year of service.

8. Phone and Internet: MPs are allotted up to 1,50,000 free telephone calls annually and provided with complimentary high-speed internet connections at their residences and offices.

9. Water and Electricity: MPs are entitled to free electricity up to 50,000 units and complimentary water up to 4,000 kilolitres annually.
