Saudi Arabia is getting tough on people who go to Hajj without permission and those who stay in the country on expired visas. Security agencies are taking strong action, with fines, jail time, or deportation for violators. This crackdown comes as Saudi authorities warn visitors on visas not to go to Mecca for Hajj without the right permits.

Saudi security agencies are stepping up efforts to stop illegal immigrants and those who try to do Hajj without permission. If caught without a Hajj permit, people could be fined SR10,000. Employers who don’t report their workers leaving after their visa ends may also face punishment.

The Saudi General Directorate of Public Security says not reporting departures on time could lead to fines of up to SR50,000 or six months in jail, with deportation possible. Hotlines are available to report violations of residency, work, and border laws.

Recent nationwide efforts have led to the arrest of thousands of illegal immigrants, targeting those breaking residency, work, and border laws. This latest crackdown aims to stop people doing Hajj without permission before the annual pilgrimage.

Starting now, people with visit visas can’t go to Mecca until June 21. Saudi authorities stress that visit visas don’t allow for Hajj and advise visa holders against traveling to Mecca during this time.
