The Tamil Nadu government cautions fresh job applicants about forged agents who promise employment in Southeast Asia. Current rescues show the risk it can be. Officials suggest verifying employment opportunities and documents before traveling overseas for work.
The authorities advises job seekers to be cautious, particularly if they are seeking for work in the region. They saved 83 Tamil young people in Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar. These young individuals were duped with IT job offers and forced to perform illegal online work on visas for tourists.
Some Indians were taken in by fraudulent employment opportunities in Laos. They were taken illegally from Thailand and mistreated by thieves, forced to work hard and subjected to abuse.
Remember that visas in Thailand and Laos are only for tourism, not work. Traffickers in Laos could go to jail for a long time.
Don’t fall for scams, say officials. Always check agents and companies before taking jobs abroad.
And always carry a valid work visa and contract. Make sure your visa is real by asking the Indian Embassy in the country you’re going to and embassies in India before you leave.
