As the YSR Congress party wraps up its candidate selection process, Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is gearing up for a final pre-election tour. Beginning on January 25, Jagan will embark on a statewide journey, conducting rallies and road shows across all 26 districts.
The elections in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled to coincide with the 2024 general elections, likely taking place in the last week of March or the first week of April. While CM Jagan has already identified in-charges (potential contestants) for 59 locations, including nine MP seats, the party is yet to finalize candidates for the remaining 16 MP seats and 125 MLA seats.
Party sources reveal that CM Jagan plans to tour two districts daily, with campaign managers currently working on the route map. A formal announcement regarding the election campaign details is expected soon, according to party leaders.
Jagan’s candidate selection reflects a calculated risk, recognizing that changing candidates in constituencies where the party is weak is crucial for a return to power. He expressed, “If the strategy of changing the candidates works out, the party will win the elections. There is nothing to lose.”
Anticipating a potentially challenging battle, Jagan is prepared to fight on his own. The success of his gamble will unfold in the upcoming elections, determining whether the strategic shift in candidates pays off for the YSR Congress party.
