If the buzz on social media holds true, rebel YSR Congress party MP Kanumuri Raghu Ramakrishna Raju (RRR) from Narasapuram may not secure a ticket from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party, or Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Despite making headlines for his aggressive stance against YSRCP and its leader, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Raju has struggled to gain support from his constituency’s electorate. In the last four years, he hasn’t visited Narasapuram, as legal troubles in Andhra Pradesh could lead to his arrest.
Unable to actively engage with his constituents, RRR has faded from their memory, even with consistent media coverage. His followers in Narasapuram fear reprisals from the ruling YSRCP, limiting their ability to advocate for him.
This diminished presence diminishes RRR chances of winning in the next elections, prompting hesitation from the TDP and Jana Sena Party to grant him the Narasapuram ticket. Despite his good relations with the TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu and the Jana Sena Party’s Pawan Kalyan, both parties seem reluctant to endorse him.
Upon realizing this, RRR reportedly approached the Bharatiya Janata Party for a ticket. However, his ties with Chandrababu Naidu hindered his prospects with the saffron party. If Raju opts for an independent run, he faces tough competition from YSRCP, TDP, or Jana Sena candidates, making defeat likely.
Hence, a political analyst suggests that Raju’s best option may be to withdraw from the contest. If the TDP-Jana Sena combine assumes power, he could potentially lobby for a Rajya Sabha ticket.
