TDP NRI candidates: The TDP is gearing up to spotlight Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the upcoming elections, with many seats likely reserved for them. The Gudivada constituency has already been assigned to Venigalla Ramu, an NRI actively campaigning across the constituency, highlighting the losses incurred during the YCP rule.
TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly finalizing NRI candidates for several constituencies. Rumors suggest Uyyuru Srinivas for Guntur West and a potential change in Srungavarapukota constituency, Vizianagaram district, with NRI Kompa Krishna emerging as a frontrunner.
In Nellimerla constituency, Vizianagaram district, former minister Prativada Narayana Swamy is expected to be replaced by NRI leader Bangarraju, despite Narayana Swamy’s active role in TDP, according to party sources. Parvatipuram Manyam district might witness NRI Gonela Vijayachandra contesting from Parvatipuram constituency.
Reports indicate that 8-10 constituencies may feature NRIs in the upcoming polls. This strategic move aims to counter the financial and influential dominance of YCP leaders.
The decision to prefer NRIs is also rooted in the perceived failure of incumbent TDP leaders to strengthen the party in their constituencies. TDP supremo Naidu intends to infuse new vigor and confidence into the cadre by introducing fresh leadership.
Furthermore, the NRIs chosen by Naidu have actively promoted the TDP cause abroad, asserting the need for Naidu’s leadership in Andhra Pradesh over the past five years. Naidu plans to reciprocate their commitment and belief in him by giving them prominent roles in the upcoming elections, emphasizing a dynamic shift in leadership to rejuvenate the party.
