After securing the Gannavaram seat in both 2014 and 2019 Vallabhaneni Vamsi suffered a significant defeat at the hands of Yarlagadda Venkat Rao who reclaimed the seat for the TDP. Although this result might have surprised Vallabhaneni Vamsi it seemed inevitable to many.
TDP activists believe that Vamsi’s decline began when he allegedly insulted Nara Bhuvaneshwari in the assembly along with Kodali Nani. While concrete evidence is lacking several TDP MLAs reported witnessing Vamsi’s offensive remarks towards Bhuvaneshwari who is not involved in politics. Additionally old videos of Vamsi verbally attacking Lokesh and Naidu went viral, exacerbating the situation. This series of events contributed to Vamsi’s downfall ultimately leading to his loss in Gannavaram in this year’s election.
After the election results were announced Yarlagadda Venkat Rao made a strong statement to the media. He declared that Vallabhaneni Vamsi had received a harsh lesson through the voters’ decision. “This Gannavaram MLA seat is my gift to Bhuvaneshwari garu who endured undue animosity from YCP especially from Vamsi. She is a pure soul and my victory here is dedicated to her grace” Yarlagadda stated.
