The nation is abuzz with devotional fervor as Ayodhya prepares for the historic inauguration of the Ram Mandir on January 22. The main event involves the installation of the Ram Lalla idol in the temple’s sanctum sanctorum through a ceremony known as ‘Pran Pratishtha.’
Celebrations are planned nationwide, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging people to light diyas to commemorate the moment. The BJP is organizing special pujas, and several states are implementing liquor bans to honor the sanctity of the occasion.
States where liquor will be banned on January 22:
1. Uttar Pradesh:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared a dry day on January 9, emphasizing that no liquor will be sold on ‘Pran Pratishtha’ day. The day is considered a “national festival,” and January 22 will be a holiday for all educational institutions in the state.
2. Chhattisgarh:
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai declared January 22 as a “dry day” to mark the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He highlighted the significance of Ram Raj as a model for good governance.

Additionally, BJP legislator Ram Kadam has requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to impose a ban on the sale of liquor and meat in the state on the day of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. In a letter to Shinde, Kadam emphasized the auspiciousness of the day, comparing it to Diwali and suggesting a nationwide ban enforced by the central government.
