Kejriwal Arrest Concerns: As tensions rise, extra police are stationed near Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, fueled by concerns voiced by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders about a potential arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The apprehensions grew following an AAP leader’s social media post hinting at an impending raid and arrest.
Responding to the situation, a police officer clarified that the deployment aims to maintain order outside Kejriwal’s residence, anticipating crowds due to the hinted arrest. The security measures also account for a planned teachers’ protest near the education directorate.
While AAP leaders express worries, the ED has not confirmed any action against Kejriwal. AAP leader Jasmine Shah cites “reliable sources” indicating a possible raid and arrest, noting a pattern observed in previous cases involving AAP leaders.
Shah questions the credibility of the BJP and the ED, suggesting their actions target opposition leaders. He emphasizes the ongoing, inconclusive investigation into the excise case, asserting a perceived intention to undermine AAP and Kejriwal arrests ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
In a separate announcement, Kejriwal’s office outlines plans for him to address a public meeting, join a workers’ conference, and visit a jailed AAP lawmaker during a Gujarat tour starting January 6.
In a letter to the ED, Kejriwal criticizes the agency’s actions as “opaque” and “motivated,” prompting the BJP to accuse him of corruption and urge cooperation with the investigation. The keyword “Arvind Kejriwal arrest” encapsulates the evolving situation amidst political turmoil and security concerns.
