Telangana Home Minister: Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who managed to secure a party ticket for the recent Telangana assembly elections at the last moment, still perceives himself as a significant leader within the party. He announced his imminent inclusion in the state cabinet under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership. Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy mentioned that the cabinet expansion would occur after the budget session and claimed assurance from the party high command regarding a cabinet position.
Expressing his desire for the crucial home portfolio, he emphasized the importance of controlling the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He appealed to the party leadership to appoint him as the Telangana Home Minister for effective governance. Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy highlighted that there’s no restriction on his cabinet inclusion, despite his brother, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, already serving as a cabinet minister.
He clarified his political journey, mentioning his brief stint with the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2022 due to differences with PCC president Revanth Reddy. After an unsuccessful bid in the Munugode by-elections, he reunited with the Congress just before the recent elections. Regarding the potential candidacy of his family members in the Nalgonda or Bhongir Lok Sabha constituencies, Rajagopal Reddy indicated openness, subject to the party’s directives. He reiterated the party’s priority of securing victory, regardless of the candidate fielded.
