Sankranti Travel: The festive spirit of Sankranti has prompted a mass movement as people travel to their hometowns in the Telugu states. This seasonal migration has resulted in heavy traffic on roads, causing significant congestion at toll gates, especially along the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway.
Among the toll plazas, Pantangi tollgate emerges as the most congested, leading to the establishment of 16 toll payment centers to streamline the toll collection process. Travelers passing through the Pantangi toll plaza face notable delays, prompting efforts to expedite toll collection during the festival.
Despite these challenges, certain routes experience comparatively lower traffic, such as the path from Narkatpally through Miryalaguda to Addna and the route from Korlapahad towards Khammam. However, the return journey is expected to bring similar congestion patterns, with Pantangi toll plaza anticipating a substantial daily influx, reminiscent of last year’s Sankranti festival, where around 60,000 vehicles traversed the toll plaza daily.
