Merry Christmas Movie Review: As the Sankranthi/Pongal weekend gears up for a cinematic showdown with several prominent South Indian releases, the buzz surrounding Sriram Raghavan’s thriller, “Merry Christmas,” remains unwavering. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Katrina Kaif, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Radhika Apte, the film’s trailer promised an experience befitting the director’s reputation.
Adding to the anticipation, Tamil filmmaker and actor Nayanthara’s husband, Vignesh Shivan, has shared the first review of “Merry Christmas.” After watching a preview, he took to Instagram to laud Sriram Raghavan’s brilliance and the stellar performances of Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif.
“Absolutely awestruck by the outstanding performances from Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif in this superbly written thrilling screenplay from the genius Sriram Raghavan, which takes us back to the Alfred Hitchcock times,” Vignesh exclaimed. He also highlighted the significance of Pritam’s music and praised the last 30 minutes as “just too good.”
While the Hindi version features talents like Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, the Tamil rendition boasts stalwarts like Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kavin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams. Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar make special appearances in both versions.
Bankrolled by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani, and Kewal Garg, “Merry Christmas” is penned by Varun Grover. With cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan and editing by Pooja Ladha Surti, the film is set to hit screens on January 12, 2024, in both Hindi and Tamil. The positive early review and star-studded cast suggest “Merry Christmas” is a must-watch thriller this festive season.
