A bunch of 49 Indian athletes are now at the Games Village for the Paris Olympics starting July 26. This group got the whole team for archery, table tennis, and hockey. To break it down, 39 athletes, including the eight-person table tennis team and the 19-person Indian men’s hockey team, have made it to Paris. Also, 10 shooters out of the 21 who made the cut for the Olympics have shown up in Chateauroux. The six-person archery team, plus two tennis players, a shuttler, a rower, and two swimmers, have also landed in the French capital.
A total of 117 athletes will represent India at the Paris Olympics. This group includes 70 guys and 47 girls. They’ll compete in 69 events to win 95 medals. Along with them, 140 people are coming to help out making the whole Indian team 257 members strong. It’s a bit smaller than the 119-person team India sent to the Tokyo Olympics.
In Tokyo, India did its best ever getting seven medals. The big highlight was Neeraj Chopra winning gold in javelin throw, which was a first for India. Chopra’s heading to Paris to try and win gold again.
