The BCCI is gonna hire Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate to help coach the Indian cricket team, according to Cricbuzz. They haven’t said anything yet, but the story says both guys will join new head coach Gautam Gambhir for the upcoming T20I and ODI games against Sri Lanka. Nayar used to be an assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders, and Ten Doeschate was their fielding coach when Gambhir was a mentor there. T Dilip, who’s the current fielding coach under Rahul Dravid, will stay on as part of the new group of coaches.
The bowling coach job is still up in the air. Morne Morkel, who used to bowl fast for South Africa, might get it. He and Gambhir go way back – they were on the Kolkata Knight Riders team from 2014 to 2016. Gambhir was the captain then, and they won the title in 2014.
The news says Dilip and Nayar will go with the team to Sri Lanka. But nobody’s sure when Ten Doeschate will show up. Right now, he’s coaching the LA Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket (MLC) that’s happening. The Board is talking to Morkel about being the bowling coach, but they haven’t made up their minds yet.
