India’s leg-spinner Amit Mishra has surprised folks with his views on the differences between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He pointed out that Kohli doesn’t have as many pals on the team suggesting that “becoming famous and powerful” has changed him. Mishra compared this to Rohit, who’s kept his old self even though he’s now super popular.
On YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra’s show ‘Unplugged,’ Amit Mishra said, “I look up to Virat as a cricket player, but we’re not as close as we used to be. Rohit and Virat are pretty different people.” He also mentioned, “I haven’t played for India in a while, but whenever I see Rohit, he’s always joking around with me.”
When asked if Kohli had changed, Mishra nodded saying, “When people get big and powerful, some of them start to think others talk to them because they want something from them.”
Mishra mentioned an old quote from Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj claimed he was friends with ‘Cheeku’ (Kohli’s nickname) but not with the famous Kohli.
Mishra played for India in 22 Tests and 36 ODIs. His final match happened in 2017. Kohli and Rohit were part of the squad that clinched the 2024 T20 World Cup. After the final game, they decided to stop playing T20Is.
