Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s javelin throw star, received a touching message from Neeraj Chopra’s mother, Saroj Devi, who referred to him as “like my son.” Nadeem, who made history by becoming the first Pakistani to win an individual Olympics gold medal with a record-breaking 92.97m throw at the Paris Olympics 2024, responded with gratitude. He acknowledged her heartfelt gesture, saying that she is like a mother to him as well.
Nadeem’s act, which got him the gold and went further than Neeraj Chopra who won a silver with a throw of 89. 45m, is being celebrated in Pakistan. The government intends to decorate Nadeem with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz Award, the second highest civilian award of Pakistan, and release the postage stamp ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ on the Independence Day.
The successful adventure was praised by President Asif Ali Zardari who congratulated Nadeem saying that the pride which his success has given to the nation is immense.
