Former opener Gautam Gambhir is set to lead the Indian men’s cricket team as head coach. After the BCCI approached him with the offer, Gambhir accepted following some negotiations that the board agreed to.

The BCCI is expected to officially announce Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as head coach in the coming days. Gambhir has been a frontrunner for the coaching role, especially with current coach Rahul Dravid’s contract ending after the ongoing T20 World Cup.

“I’m excited about coaching the Indian team. It’s a tremendous honor to represent 140 crore Indians and fans worldwide,” said the 42-year-old Gambhir.

Gambhir has a decorated career, contributing significantly to India’s victories in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.

The cricketing fraternity awaits the official announcement, anticipating Gambhir’s leadership to usher in a new era of success for the Indian team.
