The Indian Men’s Hockey Team exhibited a dominant performance, securing a commanding 9-4 victory against Kenya in the 5th-8th place match of the FIH Hockey5s Men’s World Cup Oman 2024 in Muscat on January 30, 2024.
Uttam Singh netted a hat-trick with goals at the 5th, 25th, and 26th minutes, complemented by goals from Manjeet (6’), Pawan Rajbhar (10’), Mandeep Mor (15’), Mohammed Raheel (17’, 25’), and Gurjot Singh (28’). Kenya’s goals came from Moses Ademba (12’, 14’, 27’) and Captain Ivan Ludiali (24’).
From the onset, India took control of the game, consistently challenging Kenya’s goalkeeper. Despite Kenya’s attempts at counterattacks, India maintained an aggressive stance. The breakthrough occurred early, with Uttam Singh (5’) and Manjeet (6’) establishing an early lead.
India sustained their relentless assault, resulting in Pawan Rajbhar (10’) adding another goal. Though Kenya narrowed the gap with goals from Moses Ademba (12’, 14’), Mandeep Mor (15’) secured another goal, leading 4-2 at halftime.
In the second half, India extended their lead with Mohammed Raheel (17’) scoring on a counterattack. India strategically focused on swift passing and ball possession, preventing Kenya from making a comeback.
Despite Kenya’s Captain Ivan Ludiali (24’) and Moses Ademba (27%) showcasing their skills, India widened the gap with goals from Mohammed Raheel (25’), Uttam Singh (25’, 26’), and Gurjot Singh (28’). The match concluded with India emerging victorious, securing a convincing 9-4 win.
