India has qualified for the semis of the Paris 2024 Olympics in the category of men’s hockey after defeating Great Britain in a nerve-wracking shoot-out which was held at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir. They are now only one victory away from repeating the performance at the Olympics and gaining another consecutive medal. India beat the semi-final where they are scheduled to play with either Germany or Argentina. Even after having ten players at the fag end of the first half, India led 1-0 in the 22nd minute, thanks to Harmanpreit Singh who slammed a penalty corner goal that was his seventh goal in the tournament. The equalizer for Great Britain came through Lee Morton to level the score at 2-2 five minutes later after Amit Rohidas was giving his marching orders. The match ended 1-1 after the 90 regular time play; however, India qualified the shoot-out 4-2.
The team showed great endurance and good tactics in moments of high tension, and suggest they are willing to perform at their best to secure a historic medal in the next match.
