After the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian team, now the BCCI has started the hunt for a bowling coach . Paras Mahambre replaced as bowling coach..
There are reports in the national media that former seamer Lakshmipathy Balaji will be selected. While Balaji’s name has not been finalised, reports suggest that left-handed pacer Zaheer Khan is in the race to compete against him. Finally, there is definite talk of one of the duo taking over as the bowling coach.
It seems that Gautam Gambhir has suggested the name of former Karnataka pacer Vinay Kumar for the post of bowling coach. However, media sources said that BCCI is not interested in him. It is reported that one of Zaheer Khan or Lakshmipati Balaji will be given the charge of bowling coach.
Zaheer took 311 Test wickets in 92 matches and 610 wickets in 309 international matches for the Men in Blue. Further, Balaji represented Team India in eight Test matches. He took 27 wickets at an average of 37.18. As for ODIs, he took 34 wickets in 30 matches at an average of 39.52.
After Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach, a new support staff was appointed for the Indian team.
