Neeraj Chopra, India’s top javelin thrower, is upto repeat his performance again in his second Olympics. Who is already famous for his achievements, Chopra has set his sight on the gold medal and a chance of becoming the first Indian to win two golds in the same individual event in Olympics. To begin with, he starts his campaign on Tuesday with the qualification round in a bid to be in the final on August 8.
Chopra had some minor injury problems this season, however, he was good in some of the signs before he received his injury, his season best throw was 88. 36m. Though he had to pull out of some events as a measure of precaution he went on to clinch gold at the Paavo Nurmi Games with a throw of 85. 97m. His coach has stated that Chopra is quite ready now and he is fully fit.
Chopra needs to inspire Indian athletics as the nation looks for its first Olympic success in Paris against rivals such as Jakub Vadlejch, Julian Weber, and Anderson Peters.
