Olympics : India got off to a good start in the Paris Olympics. A day before the official inauguration, our athletes entered the ring.
In the qualification round held on Thursday, the Indian women’s archers made a splash. Ankita Bhakat (11th position, 666 points), Bhajan Kaur (22nd position, 658 points) and Deepika Kumari (23rd position, 658 points) showed their strength. With this, India secured the fourth position (1983 points) in the team event and directly qualified for the quarter finals. South Korea (2046 points) topped this category. China (1996 points) and Mexico (1986 points) are in the next positions. The top four teams advance directly to the finals. Teams placed 5th to 12th will play round of 16 matches. It is known that the team seeding will be allotted based on the individual performance of the archers.
India will face either France or the Netherlands in the quarter finals to be held on July 28. If they win in the quarters, there is a chance to face the top seed and strong South Korea in the semi finals. South Korea has won 27 gold medals in archery in the history of the Olympics.
