Haryana Steelers played smartly to beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 31-27, securing their spot in the PKL Season 10 finals at the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex. This marked the Steelers’ first-ever final, thanks to a fantastic team effort, especially from raiders Vinay and Shivam Patare. The final showdown against Puneri Paltan is set for March 1.
In a tense match, both teams played cautiously, resulting in a low-scoring but gripping affair. The raiders Arjun Deshwal and Vinay engaged in constant battles, while both defenses remained solid.
The turning point came with Haryana Steelers showcasing a variety of raiding strategies. They targeted Arjun Deshwal, the key raider for Pink Panthers, leading to the Steelers inflicting the first All-out and taking a 13-7 lead. Vinay and Shivam Patare continued their relentless attack, giving no room for Pink Panthers to recover. The Steelers led by 6 points at halftime.
Although Pink Panthers rallied in the second half with Arjun Deshwal’s raiding skills, their defense struggled against the Steelers. With Arjun off the mat, the Steelers widened the gap to a six-point lead. Despite a Super Tackle by Reza Mirbagheri, the Steelers held their nerve. Ashish’s crucial tackle on Deshwal in the final minute sealed the victory, marking Steelers’ historic entry into the league finals.
