The BCCI picked Gautam Gambhir to lead the Indian cricket team as head coach after Rahul Dravid left. Dale Steyn, who used to bowl fast for South Africa, liked this choice. He said Gambhir knows the game well and is aggressive. Steyn thinks Gambhir’s way of doing things will help India’s team with players like Virat Kohli.
Steyn told Star Sports, “I like Gautam Gambhir. His aggression is great. He’s one of the few Indian players who would fight back, and I dig that. He’ll bring that attitude to the team room with Virat and other big players.”
Steyn highlighted cricket’s need for tough and aggressive players. He said Gambhir’s fierceness and smart cricket mind will benefit the team .
Jacques Kallis, who played with Gambhir for Kolkata Knight Riders believes in Gambhir’s coaching skills. Kallis, an ex-South African all-rounder, said, “Gautam has a sharp cricket mind and loves aggressive play. He’ll bring passion and value to India’s team. I wish him luck.”
Shahid Afridi, who used to play cricket for Pakistan, thinks this is a great chance for Gambhir. He says Gambhir speaks well and doesn’t beat around the bush.
Gambhir will go with the Indian team to Sri Lanka soon. They start playing on July 27. The team will play six games – three T20Is and three ODIs.
