India’s best singles player, Sumit Nagal, beat Elias Ymer to kick off the Nordea Open on Tuesday.
Nagal had lost to the Swedish wild card twice before this ATP 250 event. But this time, he flipped the script with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ymer, who’s done well in tournaments in India. Nagal’s earlier losses to Ymer happened at the Split Open in Croatia last year and in Lyon France in 2019. Nagal now ranked 68th in the ATP singles list, will play world number 36 Mariano Navone from Argentina next.
Nagal’s gonna play for India in the Paris Olympics too.
Meanwhile, Indian doubles gamers Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji are gearing up to sign up for their first ATP Tour competition. They’re set to play within the guys’s doubles at the Paris Olympics, and they’re starting off on the Hamburg Open, a prime ATP 500 event. They’re going to stand a German duo, Mark Wallner and Jakob Schnaitter, within the establishing spherical on Wednesday.
