PV Sindhu and Wang Zhi Yi compete in the Malaysia Masters final

Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu showcased her prowess at the BWF Super 500 tournament, securing the runner-up position after a hard-fought battle against second-seeded Chinese player Wang Zhi Yi in the women’s singles final on Sunday.

Despite a valiant effort Sindhu seeded fifth in the tournament succumbed to a 21-16, 5-21, 16-21 defeat against the Asian Champion Wang in a gripping match that lasted for 79 minutes at the Axiata Arena.

This marks Sindhu’s first BWF World Tour Final appearance since the Spain Masters in April 2023. Having participated in seven tournaments this year the 28-year-old Indian made a remarkable return from injury at the Badminton Asia Team Championships in February.
