Afghanistan Earthquake: Delhi and its surrounding areas, encompassing the National Capital Region, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram, experienced seismic tremors on Thursday afternoon. The earthquake, with its epicenter in Afghanistan, reverberated across the region, reaching Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and other parts of northern India.
The National Center for Seismology, the primary agency in India for monitoring earthquake activity, reported the event as follows: “Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.1, Occurred on 11-01-2024, 14:50:24 IST, Lat: 36.48 & Long: 70.45, Depth: 220 Km, Location: Afghanistan.”
Pakistani media also documented tremors in Lahore, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities. The seismic activity, felt at 2:50 pm, has not resulted in any reported loss of lives or property at this time.
