Dadi Veerabhadra Rao Resigns: In a significant setback for the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, a seasoned leader with a strong influence in the North Andhra region, resigned from the party on January 2. The four-time MLA, known for his political clout in the Anakapalli district, conveyed his decision to quit in a letter addressed to YSRCP president and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, who previously served as an MLA on the TDP ticket for four consecutive terms in 1985, 1989, 1994, and 1999, holds considerable sway in the political landscape of the region. His departure marks a significant shift in the political dynamics, particularly in the Anakapalli district, where he has played a key role over the years.
This move is reminiscent of his previous political journey, where he parted ways with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 2013, joining the YSRCP with the hope of securing a party ticket in the 2014 elections. However, his aspirations were not met, leading to his resignation from the YSRCP in 2015. Following his exit from the party, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao remained inactive in politics for about four years.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the YSRCP leadership, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, along with his son and followers, is set to meet TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada on January 3. This development suggests a potential realignment of political alliances and a strategic move by Dadi Veerabhadra Rao to return to the TDP fold.
The fallout of this resignation may have implications not only on the YSRCP’s stronghold in North Andhra Pradesh but also on the broader political landscape of Andhra Pradesh, adding an interesting dimension to the evolving political scenario in the state.
