England opportunities of accomplishing the Round of 8 stage of the the year 2024 T20 World Cup remain unaltered following a convincing victory over Oman. England bowlers were unstoppable, dismissing Oman for only 47 runs in 13.2 overs.


Mark Wood and Jofra Archer led the attack, every one implementing a wicket for 3/12.Archer made a swift impact, taking two wickets in the Powerplay, while Wood observed his 50th T20 Internationally wicket. Chasing a simple target of 48, Phil Salt gave England a flying start. He made history by hitting sixes on the first two balls of the innings, becoming the first player to do so in international cricket. Although Salt was out on the third ball, Jos Buttler (24 not out off 8 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (8 not out off 2 balls) quickly finished the chase in just 3.1 overs. This strong performance boosted England’s net run rate to +3.081, putting them ahead of Scotland (+2.164) in Group B. England’s progress now depends on their next match against Namibia and Scotland’s result against Australia. For Oman, this loss was their fourth in the group stage, but their earlier performances in the tournament showed promise. Despite the disappointment, they gained valuable experience for the future. With their hopes revived, England aims to maintain this momentum and secure their spot in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup.
