Ticket confusion in YSR Congress Party?

The YSRCP leadership is currently navigating a state of confusion in the allocation of tickets for the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is encountering resistance from multiple candidates, prompting delays in releasing the anticipated third list of candidates, particularly focusing on sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

Jagan faces challenges as he contemplates denying the ticket to sitting Ongole MP, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy unless he contributes a significant amount to the party fund and launches an attack on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu, his family, and the decisions made by the previous TDP government between 2014 and 2019. However, Magunta has staunchly refused these conditions, departing for Hyderabad along with Ongole MLA Balineni Srinivas Reddy, who left in frustration after awaiting an audience with Jagan.

Leaks about the potential changes in the third list have caused discontent among candidates and those likely to be denied tickets. Notable alterations include the relocation of sitting Tirupati MP Gurumurthy to the Sullurpet assembly constituency, replacing sitting MLA Kiliveru Sanjeevaiah. In a surprising move, Satyaveedu MLA Koneti Adimulam is slated to contest for the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat, replacing Gurumurthy. Meanwhile, Jagan has reportedly chosen young leader Nagarjuna Yadav for the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha constituency instead of sitting MP Lavu Krishna Devarayalu, a decision that has left local YSRCP cadres puzzled.

Leaked names for various constituencies include Minister and Alur MLA Gummanur Jayaram for Kurnool MP seat, director V V Vinayak for Rajahmundry MP seat, Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad chairman Majji Srinivas for Vizianagaram MP seat, former MP Botsa Jhansi for Visakhapatnam MP seat, Chalamalasetty Sunil for Kakinada MP seat, and comedian-actor Ali for Nandyal MP seat.

While sitting Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani is expected to be the YSRCP candidate this time, Chintalapudi MLA Unnamatla Eliza is likely to represent Amalapuram MP, Kilaru Padma for Anakapalle MP, and Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy for Nellore MP. The reactions of candidates to the formal release of the list remain uncertain, adding an element of suspense to the unfolding political scenario.
