Over a dozen Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Kar Karmur, Ashi Sojitra, and Ashish Katariya, have resigned in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Their decision stemmed from perceived unfulfilled promises by the AAP’s central leadership, causing significant upheaval within the local unit. The collective departure of these key members has thrown the party’s operations in Jamnagar into disarray.
The resignations came to light through a letter addressed to the AAP’s state chief, Ishudan Gadhvi, in which the disgruntled members voiced their dissatisfaction. One of the resigning members lamented, “For the last three years, I’ve been part of AAP. During the Vidhan Sabha elections, the party made several commitments but failed to honor them.” Despite numerous appeals and discussions, the party’s inaction on previously agreed matters prompted the resignation of 15 other office-bearers.
This internal strife within the Aam Aadmi Party sharply contrasts with the political landscape of Jamnagar, where the BJP maintains a formidable presence. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Poonam Hematbhai Maadam of the BJP secured a significant victory, garnering 5,91,588 votes. Her triumph marked a substantial victory margin of 2,36,804 votes over the Congress candidate. With the BJP once again fielding Poonam Maadam in the upcoming elections, the political dynamics in Jamnagar continue to unfold amidst AAP’s internal challenges.
