Held on April 19, the elections saw voters in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim casting their ballots for 60 and 32 assembly seats, respectively. According to the Election Commission, the BJP secured its third consecutive term in Arunachal Pradesh, winning 46 out of 60 seats. This total includes 10 seats where BJP candidates, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, were declared winners unopposed before counting day.
The National People’s Party (NPP) won five seats, while the People’s Party of Arunachal and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured two and three seats, respectively. The Indian National Congress managed to win just one seat, with independent candidates taking three constituencies.
In Sikkim, the SKM, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, achieved a landslide victory, winning 31 out of 32 assembly seats. The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) managed to win only one seat, reflecting a significant gain in power for the SKM.
These results indicate strong voter support for the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh and the SKM in Sikkim, ensuring continued leadership under their respective parties.
