On Wednesday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made an announcement that could benefit millions of impoverished families across the nation. Speaking at a press conference alongside Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, Kharge stated that if the INDIA bloc wins the election, they will increase the food ration for the poor from 5 kilograms to 10 kilograms per person.

Kharge emphasized, “It was the Congress that introduced the Food Security Act, and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to take credit for it. An INDIA bloc government will double the free ration provided to the poor.”

He also highlighted the INDIA bloc’s commitment to implementing the Panch Nyay and other key promises in their manifesto, allowing states the flexibility to include additional provisions based on their specific needs.

Drawing a contrast between the two major alliances, Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The INDIA bloc stands with the poor and marginalized, while the BJP-led NDA supports the rich.” He stressed the importance of the upcoming elections, describing them as a battle between ideologies that will shape the country’s future and safeguard the constitution.

Kharge expressed concerns about the fairness of the electoral process, alleging that opposition leaders are being hindered from filing nomination papers and that election agents are facing threats. “For an election to be fair, everyone must have an equal chance,” he asserted.

Akhilesh Yadav also addressed the press conference, criticizing the BJP for their negative campaign tactics. “They are not asking for votes based on their work over the past ten years. Instead, they are using divisive language,” he remarked. “People are eager for change, and farmers, in particular, have not forgotten the hardships they have faced.”

Responding to questions about communal issues, Yadav accused the BJP of attempting to distract voters by focusing on topics like mutton, fish, and mangalsutra. He urged the Bahujan Samaj community to support INDIA bloc candidates and emphasized the need for unity and change.
