YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been embroiled in numerous CBI and ED cases related to disproportionate assets which have been lingering for over a decade. For the past five years Jagan has avoided attending CBI court hearings by filing absence petitions citing his responsibilities as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
However in the recent elections Jagan Mohan Reddy faced a significant setback. The YSR Congress Party (YCP) managed to secure only 11 seats resulting in Jagan losing his position as Chief Minister and failing to even become the leader of the opposition.
With his loss of the CM post Jagan now lacks the justification of official duties to skip the CBI court hearings. If the CBI intensifies its efforts and accelerates the trial, Jagan will be compelled to travel to Hyderabad every Friday to attend the court hearings in person.
