Little-known Indian actress Anasuya Sengupta made history at Cannes 2024 by becoming the first Indian actress to win an award at this prestigious festival.
She bagged the Best Actress award in the Un Certain Regard segment for her amazing performance in The Shameless (2024), directed by Constantin Bojanov.
Anasuya, who lives in Goa and started her career as a Production Designer, was discovered in a very unexpected way. Bojanov, who was her friend on Facebook, saw her potential and invited her to audition for the role. Her stellar portrayal of the character Renuka earned her this big honor.
The whole team behind The Shameless is celebrating this fantastic achievement. Anasuya’s win not only shows off her talent but also marks a huge milestone for Indian actors on the global stage.
