The legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja is on a legal spree! First, he sent a legal notice to the makers of Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie “Coolie” for using his track without asking. Now, another film is in his crosshairs for the same reason.
This time, the film is “Manjummel Boys,” which has charmed audiences from all over. Directed by Chidambaram, this flick features the song ‘Kammani’ from Kamal Haasan’s classic “Guna.” People loved hearing this tune in both the opening credits and the climax.
But Ilaiyaraaja wasn’t too happy about his song being used without his nod. His lawyer shot off a notice to the filmmakers, calling out the improper use of his music. Since “Manjummel Boys” is also streaming on OTT platforms, the notice demands compensation for using the song.
The surprise is that the filmmakers got permission, but it came from the music company that controlled the audio rights to “Guna,” which they used in their film. Everyone is now waiting to see how the “Manjummel Boys” will deal with this legal stumbling block. Stay tuned for more delicious updates as the story progresses!
