The stage is set in Varanasi as the Lok Sabha Election 2024 heats up, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking re-election for a third consecutive term. However, amidst the excitement, comedian Shyam Rangeela nomination, along with 32 others, has been rejected by the Election Commission.

Rangeela, renowned for his hilarious mimicry of PM Modi, filed his nomination papers on May 14, only to face rejection alongside a majority of candidates. Now, with only six contenders left, including PM Modi, the race intensifies for the prestigious Varanasi seat.

As the scrutiny reveals, prominent figures like Congress leader Ajai Rai and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Ather Jamal Lari are among those vying against PM Modi. However, the notable absence of Shyam Rangeela has stirred controversy, with the comedian alleging hindrance in filing his nomination.

Born and raised in Rajasthan, Rangeela gained fame for his uncanny impersonations, particularly of political personalities. His desire to contest against PM Modi in Varanasi garnered attention, reflecting the vibrant democratic spirit of India’s electoral process.

Despite the setback, Rangeela’s journey from an animation student to a celebrated mimicry artist has been remarkable. His viral videos, mimicking PM Modi’s speeches and interviews, have captivated audiences nationwide, showcasing his unique talent and wit.

While PM Modi remains the frontrunner in Varanasi, the exclusion of Shyam Rangeela adds an unexpected twist to the electoral narrative. As voters await the final candidates in the fray, the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat promises an intriguing showdown on June 1.
