Bhaje Vaayu Vegam Review:

Rating: 3/5

Bhaje Vaayu Vegam marks the latest release of Kartikeya Gummakonda, directed by Prashanth Reddy, with Ishwarya Menon playing the female lead. Here’s our detailed review of this film.

Story:

Venkat (Kartikeya) and Raju (Rahul Tyson) are sons of a poor farmer (Tanikella Bharani). They move to the city to pursue their dreams of becoming a cricketer and a software engineer, respectively. However, they get swindled badly. Adding to their woes, Venkat gambles a significant part of his savings in IPL betting, only to be cheated again. Frustrated, the brothers steal the car of David (Ravi Shankar), the man behind the betting mafia. What follows is a rollercoaster ride as they strike a deal, but things take a wild turn when the state police chase after them. What is in the car? Who is behind the mafia? How does Venkat save his father? These questions drive the rest of the story.

Positives:

  • The film’s standout feature is its solid twists and turns, executed in an engaging manner that keeps you hooked until the end. The second half, in particular, is packed with gripping drama and thrilling sequences.
  • Kartikeya shines in his role as Venkat, perfectly embodying a daring youth. His performance in the action scenes is particularly impressive. Ishwarya Menon, though not given much screen time, is central to a surprising twist that ends the first half with a bang.
  • Ravi Shankar, playing the main villain, delivers a compelling performance, especially in tense moments. Rahul Tyson, known for “Happy Days,” makes a strong comeback with a significant role that matches the protagonist’s impact. Tanikella Bharani also impresses in his role as the farmer.
  • Credit goes to director Prashanth Reddy for his clever writing. Despite a simple plot, he infuses the film with enough drama and thrills to make it captivating.

Negatives:

  • The film starts on a very slow note. It takes about twenty minutes for the actual plot to unfold, making the initial part of the movie feel sluggish.
  • Ishwarya Menon’s character, despite being part of a major twist, has a weak storyline. Her portrayal of love towards the hero feels overdone in some scenes.
  • The conflict between the two villains feels routine and lacks a significant impact on the overall plot.
  • However, these shortcomings are mostly overshadowed by the engaging screenplay.

Technical Aspects:

  • The songs composed by Radhan are just okay, but Kapil Kumar’s background score is exceptional. The action sequences are well-executed, with the car chase being particularly realistic.
  • Dialogues are decent, and the editing by Satya G is effective.
  • The production values are high, and the cinematography by RD Rajasekhar is commendable.
  • Director Prashanth Reddy makes a solid debut, showing promise with his ability to turn a simple story into an engaging film filled with twists and turns. His direction ensures there are hardly any dull moments, despite the straightforward plot.

Verdict:

Overall, Bhaje Vaayu Vegam is a decent masala entertainer with interesting twists and turns. Though it starts slowly and takes a while to get into the main story, it eventually delivers a good dose of entertainment.
