K.S. Viswanathan CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stated that they respect MS Dhoni decisions and have left the matter of his future in the franchise up to him. Dhoni status as a CSK player has been widely discussed since the team failed to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs.
“We’ve always respected MS’s decisions. We’re waiting for his call. We hope he’ll continue with CSK next year,” said Viswanathan in a video posted by the franchise.
Regarding head coach Stephen Fleming, Viswanathan doesn’t believe he’ll apply for the India men’s head coach position due to his preference for shorter commitments.
Before the IPL 2024 season, Dhoni passed the leadership to Ruturaj Gaikwad. The CSK the board including Fleming and Dhoni had conversations about Gaikwad’s authority expected in light of his presentation and way to deal with the game.
Gaikwad’s progress to captaincy has been smooth with help from senior players and CSK fans tolerating the change emphatically. CSK the executives’ hands-off way to deal with cricketing matters has permitted players to zero in on their jobs and obligations upgrading group execution.
