According to Kashyap, the pressure to chase profits is watering down the quality of films. Instead of telling compelling stories, filmmakers are more concerned with box office returns, leading to repetitive plots and a lack of originality. This, he believes, isn’t doing the industry any favors, with many movies failing to make an impact despite a few successes.
Despite these challenges, Kashyap’s filmography boasts impressive works like “Black Friday,” “Dev D,” and “Gangs of Wasseypur.” His latest film, “Kennedy,” premiered at Cannes in 2023, earning praise for its bold storytelling and standout performances.
Looking back on the Cannes experience, Kashyap expressed gratitude for the chance to showcase his film to a global audience. The seven-minute standing ovation at the Grand Theatre Lumiere was a proud moment, highlighting the dedication put into “Kennedy.”
