As Delhi gears up for the Lok Sabha elections on May 25, both the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) are implementing special measures to facilitate smooth commuting for voters and election duty personnel.

The DMRC has announced that all metro lines in the capital will commence operations from 4 am on the voting day. This initiative aims to assist election duty personnel in reaching their assigned polling stations on time. Trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes until 6 am, after which normal metro services will resume throughout the day.

In addition, the DTC will introduce additional bus services starting from 4 am on 35 routes. These buses, along with those operated by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Model Transit System Ltd. (DIMTS) on 46 routes, will cater to employees, security personnel, and officers residing in distant areas, including Delhi’s border regions, facilitating their commute to polling stations across the national capital.

Some of the key bus routes include Tikri Border to Punjabi Bagh, Azadpur to Auchandi Border, and Noida Sector-34 to ISBT Kashmiri Gate, among others. These routes have been strategically planned to ensure convenient access for voters and election staff residing in various parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Delhi will witness a fierce electoral battle between the BJP and the INDIA bloc, comprising the AAP and Congress, across all seven Lok Sabha seats. The Aam Aadmi Party has formed an alliance with the Congress, with each party contesting for four and three seats, respectively.

The counting of votes and announcement of results are scheduled for June 4. The seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi are Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi.

As the nation eagerly awaits the outcome of the elections, these measures by the DMRC and DTC aim to ensure hassle-free transportation on voting day, encouraging maximum participation in the democratic process.
